Hakuin Ekaku - Self-Portrait

The inscription above is:

Within the Meditation Hall
I am hated by the thousand Buddhas.
In the company of myriad demons
I am despised by the myriad demons.
I crush those who practice false Zen.
And annihilated those blind monks
who can't  penetrate Mu.
The evil worn-out shavepate
Adds more layer of ugliness to ugliness.

Thanks for reading my blog !
